A Welsh word for which there is no direct English translation.

“A homesickness for a home to which you cannot return, a home which maybe never was; the nostalgia, the yearning, the grief for the lost places of your past.”

I have never found a word so accurate and transparent that describes my journey so well.

  1. Hi Bekah,

My name is Megha, I am 19 and was adopted from Kolkata, India. This post is exactly how I feel most of the time. I have read your blog postings and I can relate to some of what you say and describe. Please keep doing these posts. I think people need to know that their not alone.

    1. You have NO idea how happy it makes my heart to hear you say that. I think that everyone deserves to feel a little less alone. I’m so glad that you could relate—that’s exactly why I have this blog. If I can help just one adoptee feel a little less alone and embolden someone’s voice, then it’s all worth it.💜 Are you on Facebook?
